Since 1925 carpets from the Caucasus are separated into five groups. One of them is Shirvan. These carpets from eastern Caucasus are robust carpets for every day life. Older pieces are more valuable, because they are completely made of wool and vegetable dyes. Shirvan carpets are decorated with geometrical patterns and show different motives, for example a star or a cross.
Old but gold. Antique Shirvan carpets are knotted artistical. Unfortunately, the designing modern carpets from this region has become a little bit worse than before. Nevertheless, they are still robust and deserve appreciation. So, Shirvan carpets are suitable for highly frequented areas. A Shirvan is perfectly placed at the entrance area, don’t worry, it easily withstands thousands of shoes stepping on it. Nowadays carpets are coloured with sthetical colours. Back in the days they where painted with vegetable dyes and therefore naturally beautiful.
